Early Visual Development
Your baby's eyes month by month

Why do babies respond to high contrast imagery?
Immature vision at birth
-
Newborns have blurry vision; they can only focus 8-12 inches away.
-
Their eyes are still learning to work together and interpret visual input.
Limited colour perception
At birth, babies see mostly in shades of grey.
Colour vision begins to develop around 2-3 months, but before that, they mostly detect contrast.
Boosts Visual and brain development
Looking at contrasting patterns helps:
-
Strengthen the retina and optic nerve .
-
Improve focus and eye coordination.
-
Stimulate connections in the visual cortex.
